So What is This 'Cleanse' Thing and WHY Do I Do It
You've asked... I've answered.
BUT FIRST you need to know that I am NOT a doctor. I have NEVER studied medicine or earned any sort of degree in the medical field. I am sharing with you what I have gained through personal experience and practice but it should NOT be taken as truth or standard for ANYONE. There, now that I got that out there....
Intermittent Fasting. . . Cleansing. . .Cellular Cleansing. . . I use these terms interchangeably yes, but when I mention them just know that I am talking about the big picture of 'Cleansing'.
To me, 'Cleansing' used to be a scary word. When I used to think of doing a cleanse, I would repeatedly think of. . .
- frequent trips to the toilet
- drinking some garbage tasting concoction
- starving myself
- rapid, unhealthy weight loss
- a quick fix and not a sustainable solution
While yes some cleanses can be these things, I soon found that my preconceived notion of what cleansing actually is, was totally wrong.
I was introduced to the world of intermittent fasting (IF) and cellular cleansing (CC) by my friends and soul-buddies with . Isagenix is a environmentally conscious 🌱, wholesome health and wellness company specializing in weightless systems (that incorporate IF and CC), industry leading athletic performance lines, and healthy aging supplements. The company has absolutely changed my life and my nutritional story--and I will never be quiet about that. ✌️❤️🌎
However, this is not a post to push you to buy a product from me. Their products make a balanced diet, IF and CC more convenient and effective in many ways yes, but I realize Isagenix isn't going to be everyone's story. I'm instead choosing to talk about how I believe IF and CC can benefit every body and nutritional routine.
So get to the point Callie... what is Intermittent Fasting?
I get it--you're probably thinking this is just some new fad diet... Another Keto...Paleo...South beach...'Fad-kins'...No Carbo--something or other. These diets are proof that we are looking for something MORE. More Balance, more options, more ways to feel GOOD in our bodies instead of tired, bogged down and overweight. Enter Intermittent fasting.
'Intermittent fasting is a term for an eating pattern that cycles between periods of fasting and eating.
It says nothing about which foods you should eat, but rather when you should eat them' (original source here)
In this respect, it is not a "diet" in the conventional sense. It is more accurately described as an "eating pattern." Which allows it to have some flexibility for each individual, allowing us to create a routine or new pattern for our nutritional arsenal.
In comparison to fad diets, the idea of trying a new eating pattern--is more much psychologically and physiologically pleasing. I mean--I don't want to give up carbs sugar alcohol or pizza.... especially pizza. So why don't we just enjoy everything the good green earth has to offer AND still have our health and FEEL GOOD?
Total deprivation should never belong in a conventional diet. but where's the proof?
'Fad diets rarely have staying power once subjected to rigorous randomized controlled studies, and they rarely achieve scientific validation with clinically meaningful results'.
'In the medical community, the term clinically meaningful as it refers to weight loss is a 5-10 percent reduction in bodyweight. To achieve this clinically meaningful weight loss, the traditional recommendation is continuous energy restriction of about 600 calories per day . This is as part of a multicomponent weight management program that includes diet and physical activity' (Original Source found here).
But its been shown time and time again (I'm speaking from personal experience as well) that people who lost 5-10% of their body weight, often gain it back within a matter of months....causing scientists (and all of us) to question the effectiveness of simply restricting our calorie or food intakes.
Through rigorous and controlled research, Scientists are now finding that Intermittent Fasting can be and effective form of weight loss AND weight management as compared to a regulated diet.
How Intermittent fasting works and HOW IT PROMOTES 'cellular cleansing'
As I already mentioned, I choose to utilize Isagenix as part of my IF and CC routines. They have developed a fully proven Cleanse System and a line of Support Tools that aid your body in doing what it already naturally does--and that is detox at the cellular level. Their system makes it easier on me by fighting cravings, stimulating my digestion, and helping to dull the side effects of not eating/detoxing. If you are interested in learning more about how Isagenix can help YOU.....-MESSAGE ME. I would be happy to chat more and see if Isagenix would be a good fit.
What I mean by 'detoxing at the cellular level' or 'cellular cleansing', is that while your body is not spending energy digesting food---it automatically reverts into expelling toxins and burning unwanted fat reserves. Giving your body a 'break' from food if you will, lets it do all of the wonderful and magical things it was already designed to do.
-Getting rid of toxins.
-Resetting/speeding up your metabolism
-Giving you MORE energy
-Restoring the glow to your skin
-improving your mental clarity and performance
SOME scientists even found data suggesting it could help you live longer.... but I won't get into that here ;)
ARTICLE FOUND HERE. BEYOND Isagenix, there are other (free) methods of IF and CC available. I found this awesome article on healthline.com that details some common IF methods...👉👉👉👉👉👉
My BF uses the 16/8 method, and not intentionally. He found that skipping breakfast was actually beneficial for his metabolism and weight maintenance So try some of these out and let me know what works for you! I'm curious to hear about others' IF and CC journey.
Thanks for the read! Hopefully I've inspired you to incorporate IF and CC into your life! As always--reach out to me with any questions!
